Hyderabad: In a significant development, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has welcomed the Telangana government's decision to conduct a comprehensive door-to-door household survey. A delegation of AIMIM legislators led by party floor leader Akbar Uddin Owaisi met Chairman, BC Commission, Niranjan Rao and submitted a memorandum to conduct the survey of BC-E class separately as well as 14 subclasses who are all entitled to 4% reservations within the state.

According to the Memorandum submitted by Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, General Secretary of AIMIM, called for a thorough assessment of the BC-E class and its 14 sub-classes. While supporting the government's move, AIMIM has requested that the Planning Department, the nodal agency for the survey, pay special attention to the BC-E category. This group, entitled to 4% reservation in the state, was notified under G.O. Ms. No. 3 dated September 9, 2020, and May 28, 2021, as a socially and educationally backward class.

Further, Quadri emphasized that a separate and detailed survey of the BC-E class and its sub-categories would provide a holistic understanding of their status. He argued that this focused approach would better serve the original purpose of the 4% reservation policy, which aims to eradicate social and educational backwardness among these communities.

AIMIM seeks to ensure comprehensive survey for BC-E Welfare

“The reservation for the backward classes belonging to BC-E category was extended to eradicate the social and educational backwardness among the BC-E in Telangana. It would be in the best interest of the BC-E class people, if the government carry out the detailed survey of people of state of Telangana belonging to Backward Class i.e., BC- E class separately, as well as the 14 sub-classes within the said BC-E category individually,” read the representation.

The AIMIM leader urged the government to instruct the Planning Department to include this detailed BC-E survey within the 60-day timeframe of the overall household survey. This approach would ensure the survey's outcomes effectively contribute to planning socio-economic, educational, employment, and political opportunities for the BC-E communities.
