Hyderabad: A minor fire broke out on Saturday, June 7, 2025, on the ground floor of AIG Hospitals in Gachibowli after an ambulance parked near the emergency department suddenly caught fire. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the vehicle, triggering panic among patients and attendants.

Witnesses reported that people rushed out of the hospital premises in fear. Hospital staff immediately alerted the fire department. Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the flames using two fire engines, preventing the situation from escalating. However, the ambulance was completely gutted.

AIG Hospital sees a high volume of daily footfall, and the fire incident caused considerable alarm. The blaze also led to traffic congestion in the surrounding area. Traffic police were deployed to manage the situation and cleared the jam within 30 minutes.

An investigation has been launched by the hospital authorities and the fire department to determine the cause of the fire. Notably, Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, who has been undergoing treatment at the hospital, is among the high-profile patients currently admitted. Several BRS leaders have been visiting the hospital in recent days to check on his condition.

Fire on Musi Riverbed Near MGBS Metro Station

On Tuesday night, a fire broke out on the Musi riverbed near the MGBS Metro Station. Fire officials said it started in dry vegetation, likely fueled by the summer heat and debris. The fire spread quickly but was brought under control within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported. Preliminary findings suggest a discarded cigarette may have caused the blaze.

Footwear Warehouse Fire in Boyiguda

Earlier that day, a fire was reported at a footwear warehouse in Boyiguda, Chandrayangutta. The warehouse, located on the second floor of a building, caught fire around noon. Thick smoke forced residents in the vicinity to evacuate. Firefighters from Chatrinaka responded with two fire engines and managed to douse the flames. There were no reported casualties. Authorities are investigating the cause.

Seventeen Dead in Gulzar Houz Fire

In a major tragedy last month, a fire at Gulzar Houz Chowrasta near Charminar claimed the lives of 17 people. The fire broke out on the ground floor of a G+2 building early on Sunday, May 18, and quickly spread to the upper floors, trapping residents.

The Telangana State Disaster Response Force and Fire Department were alerted at 6:16 a.m. Firefighters from multiple stations responded with 12 units, including a hydraulic platform and an advanced firefighting robot.

Seventeen people on the first floor died due to injuries sustained in the fire. The deceased included elderly residents, parents, and young children. Authorities have identified the victims as Prahlad (70), Munni (70), Rajendar Modi (65), Sumitra (60), Hamey (7), Abhishek (31), Sheetal (35), Priyansh (4), Iraaj (2), Arushi (3), Rishabh (4), Pratham (1.5), Anuyan (3), Varsha (35), Pankaj (36), Rajini (32), and Iddu (4).
