Nampally: The Telangana Media Academy, in collaboration with ADIRA Data Leads, organised a workshop on “Artificial Intelligence (AI): Tools & Techniques” at its auditorium in Nampally. Over 100 journalists from leading Telugu, English, and Urdu newspapers and television channels attended.

Inaugurating the session, Media Academy Chairman K Srinivas Reddy said AI is transforming newsroom practices and stressed that journalists must adapt to the new environment by acquiring AI skills. He highlighted how AI can enhance digital and social media reporting, enabling faster and wider content delivery. He reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to strengthening journalists’ skills through specialised training programmes.

Training on Tools, Risks, and Ethics

The training was conducted by senior journalist and AI trainer Udumula Sudhakar Reddy. He said this was the first structured AI training for journalists in Telangana and emphasised that the profession has entered the era of agentic AI. He urged journalists to embrace continuous learning while also being aware of the risks.

Reddy explained the applications, risks, and ethical challenges of AI in detail. He cautioned that AI-generated content could mislead public opinion or incite discrimination and highlighted the importance of responsible usage. He demonstrated tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Notebook LM, Google Gemini, Midjourney, Sora, and VEO3, explaining how they can be applied in reporting. He also noted that flaws in AI training data or poor prompt design could result in bias and misinformation.

The workshop concluded with participation from Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao and other officials.
