870 kg of adulterated ginger-garlic paste worth Rs. 1.4L seized in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A ginger-garlic paste manufacturing unit operating under the name FK Food Product was raided by the South-East Zone Task Force along with the Bandlaguda Police on credible information. The unit, located in Patel Nagar, Bandlaguda, was found to be producing and selling adulterated paste containing harmful chemicals.
The police seized 870 kilograms of adulterated ginger-garlic paste, 4 kilograms of titanium dioxide, 16 kilograms of mono citrate, and 4 kilograms of turmeric powder used for colouring. The total value of the seized material is estimated at ₹1,40,000.
The accused, Mohammed Faisal, 44, a resident of Patel Nagar, Bandlaguda, has been taken into custody. He was allegedly preparing the adulterated paste at his residence and supplying it to local general stores and individual customers.
According to police, the paste was made using chemicals not permitted for food use under Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines. These include titanium dioxide and mono citrate, which pose serious health risks to consumers.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of Inspector S. Saidababu of the South-East Zone Task Force. Sub-inspectors Sk. Kaviuddin, P. Sairam, M. Madhu, and PC B. Shiva Lingam, along with Bandlaguda Police Station staff, were part of the operation. Police said legal action is being pursued under relevant food safety and public health laws.
