Actress Madhavi Latha submits complaint to Film Chamber over JC Prabhakar Reddy's comments
Hyderabad: Telugu film actress and founder of Nakshathra Foundation, Madhavi Latha, has filed a complaint with the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) against former MLA and present Tadipatri Municipal Chairman JC Prabhakar Reddy for making inappropriate comments about women working in the film industry.
In her complaint submitted to MAA Treasurer Shiva Balaji, Madhavi Latha expressed concern over the derogatory comments allegedly made by JC Prabhakar Reddy, who reportedly referred to her as "characterless" and made other disparaging remarks about women in the film industry. Madhavi Latha urged the Telugu Film Chamber to take action against such comments.
The dispute began after Madhavi Latha posted a video on Instagram criticizing the safety situation in Tadipatri following a special event for women on December 31. In the video, Madhavi Latha claimed inappropriate activities were taking place in the area and urged women to stay away for their safety. She also expressed concern about the presence of intoxicated individuals near the Penna River and advised caution, noting that the police would not be able to provide full security that night.
In response to JC Prabhakar Reddy’s comments, Madhavi Latha released another video sarcastically thanking him for his "choice of words." She expressed disappointment with those supporting his remarks and reiterated her commitment to fighting for women’s safety and dignity.
Although JC Prabhakar Reddy later issued an apology for his comments, Madhavi Latha filed the complaint to highlight the issue further. She said that she would continue her efforts to protect women’s rights and safety, even if it meant facing such challenges alone.
