ACB arrests Shamirpet ward bill collector and computer operator for Rs. 20,000 bribe

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ranga Reddy Unit, arrested K. Ram Reddy, bill collector of Shamirpet Ward Office, Thumkunta Municipality, today, June 5, 2025, at 3:30 PM for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000.

The bribe was paid through A. Sravan, computer operator at Thumkunta Municipality, in exchange for expediting the complainant’s house mutation process.

The bribe amount was recovered from Sravan, whose left-hand fingers tested positive in a chemical examination. Both officers have been produced before the Hon’ble 1st Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally Court, Hyderabad. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

The ACB urges the public to report any bribery attempts by government officials through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged via WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook (Telangana ACB), or X (formerly Twitter) @TelanganaACB. Complainants’ identities will be kept confidential.
