ACB nets Assistant Labour Officer in Mancherial and Deputy Tahsildar in Siddipet for bribery
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, arrested Katam Ram Mohan, Assistant Labour Officer at FAC Sirpur Kagaznagar, Mancherial, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
Katam Ram Mohan was caught red-handed at his residence when he demanded and accepted the money from a complainant seeking official favor. The bribe was requested to process and forward the complainant’s application to higher authorities for the sanction of accidental death claim and funeral charges.
The claim was in connection with the death of the complainant’s brother, who was a registered building construction labourer. The bribe amount was recovered from Mohan’s possession.
Both his hands tested positive in a chemical test, confirming he had handled the money. The ACB stated that the officer performed his duties dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
Following his arrest, Mohan was produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Karimnagar. The investigation is ongoing. For security reasons, the identity of the complainant has been withheld.
In a separate case registered on the same day, Yelagandula Bhavani, Deputy Tahsildar of Mulugu Mandal, Siddipet District, has been accused of demanding Rs. 2,00,000 from a complainant on April 24, 2025.
The money was sought to process the Pattadar Passbook of the complainant’s relative. The ACB said Bhavani dishonestly performed her official duties with the intention of gaining undue advantage. This case is also under investigation.
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau has urged the public to report any demands for bribes by government officials. Complaints can be made through the toll-free number 1064 or via social media platforms, including WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook (Telangana ACB), and Twitter/X (@TelanganaACB). The bureau assured that the names and details of complainants and victims would be kept confidential.
