ABVP wins HCU student union polls, BJP hails result
HYDERABAD: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao congratulated the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on its victory in the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) students’ union elections.
“The win proves once again that ABVP is the only true representative of students’ aspirations,” Rao said in a statement.
Opposition criticised for past campaigns
Rao said that opposition groups had earlier used the Rohith Vemula issue to spread “lies and propaganda” against ABVP and BJP. “They tried to divide students along caste and religious lines, but the students themselves recognised the truth. This victory is a strong reply to left-wing and divisive forces,” he said.
ABVP’s three pillars highlighted
The BJP leader said ABVP works on three pillars — patriotism, nationalism and student welfare. “Students have once again placed their trust in ABVP. This faith will encourage the organisation to work with greater responsibility,” he added.
Rao further said nationalist groups like ABVP and BJP inspire Indian youth, while “alliances based on divisive and foreign ideologies cannot sustain in students’ minds.”
Polling strength in HCU
According to him, HCU has around 12–13 student organisations, but only ABVP contested independently. “Others lacked numerical and ideological strength, so they formed coalitions of left, religious and divisive groups. Their agenda was not student issues but imposing anti-national politics,” he said.
Rao said the overwhelming support came because students increasingly believed in “nation first, caste and religion later.”
