ABVP-SLVD Alliance sweeps UoH Student Union elections in decisive victory
Hyderabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad-Sevalal Vidyarthi Dal (ABVP-SLVD) alliance has won all six key positions in the University of Hyderabad Students' Union elections 2025 after 45 rounds of counting. The polls recorded over 81% voter turnout on Thursday.
Complete victory for ABVP-SLVD
In the presidential race, ABVP-SLVD candidate Siva Palepu secured 1541 votes, defeating Ananya Dash of the Student Federation of India-Bahujan Student Front-Dalit Student Union-Tribal Student Forum (SFI-BSF-DSU-TSF) coalition who received 1371 votes. Mohd Umar from the Ambedkar Students Association-All India Students Association-Fraternity-Muslim Student Federation (ASA-AISA-Fraternity-MSF) alliance garnered 589 votes.
ABVP-SLVD candidate Debendra won the vice-presidential position with 1773 votes, while Diwakar (SFI-BSF-DSU-TSF) obtained 1170 votes and Sidhant (ASA-AISA-Fraternity-MSF) received 781 votes.
The alliance also secured other key positions: Shruti Priya won General Secretary with 1667 votes, Saurabh Shukla claimed Joint Secretary with 1612 votes, Venus secured Cultural Secretary with 2099 votes, and Jwala won Sports Secretary with 1657 votes.
Peaceful Polling with High Participation
The election featured 169 candidates contesting for six central positions, with voting conducted across 29 departmental polling booths. The electoral contest involved three major blocs including the ABVP-SLVD alliance, the SFI-BSF-DSU-TSF coalition, and the ASA-AISA-Fraternity-MSF front, along with independent candidates.
Elections were simultaneously held for School Board members, School Councillors, and ICC (GSCASH) representatives for research, postgraduate, and integrated segments.
The Election Commission Chairman acknowledged faculty, non-teaching staff, officers, and security teams for ensuring peaceful polling operations. He noted the high voter participation reflected the student community's engagement with democratic processes. The new office bearers will assume their responsibilities following the formal declaration of all results.
