Eight-year-old adopts 8 animals at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Yuvaan Hiremath, son of Dr. Sunil S. Hiremath, Indian Forest Service (IFS), Director of Zoo Parks, Telangana, adopted eight animals at the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, to mark his eighth birthday on June 12, 2025.
Continuing a personal tradition, this is the second consecutive year that Yuvaan Hiremath has adopted animals on his birthday. The animals adopted include a hippopotamus, jaguar, bear, capuchin monkey, pelican, gharial, otter, and owl. The adoption is for a period of one month.
Accompanied by his parents, Yuvaan Hiremath visited the zoo and handed over the adoption voucher to J. Vasantha, Indian Forest Service (IFS), Curator of Nehru Zoological Park. J. Vasantha congratulated Yuvaan and thanked him for his continued support and concern for wildlife.
The Nehru Zoological Park has seen increasing public interest in its animal adoption scheme, with individuals, corporate groups, banks, and educational institutions contributing to the care and upkeep of animals. The adoption program allows supporters to adopt animals for durations ranging from one day to a year. Curator J. Vasantha encouraged citizens to take part in the initiative and support animal welfare through adoption.
