Over 230 Pak nationals in Telangana, DGP asks them to return home by Sunday
Hyderabad: Following the nationwide outrage sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack and the Central government’s directive, the Telangana police said they have identified over 230 Pakistani nationals and most of whom reside in and around Hyderabad.
Following the nationwide outrage sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government has said that all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27, 2025.
The majority of these individuals are on long-term visas, with only a few holding tourist visas. Authorities said that among the 230 Pakistani nationals,199 are holders of long-term visas (LTV) and will not be affected by the recent order.
The remaining 31 individuals possess short-term visas. Police are in the process of identifying short-term visa holders and have already begun issuing "Leave India" notices to some.
So far, notices have been issued to four Pakistani nationals residing in Hyderabad. Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender has directed that all Pakistani nationals must return to their home country by Sunday, April 27.
The DGP also stated that the Attari–Wagah border will remain open for Pakistani nationals wishing to depart from India until April 30, 2025.
The Central government added that medical visas will cease to be valid after April 29. In case, Pakistani nationals fail to leave India by specified deadlines, they will face action under provisions of the newly enacted Immigration & Foreigners Act, 2025.
